OUR ESTATE

AOP Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois

The terroir

The vineyard of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois is situated on a south-facing lacustrine limestone plateau. It is here, at the foot of the Montagne Noire, at an altitude of between 280 and 300 metres, that we cultivate our 17 hectare vineyard.

The soils are shallow and very stony, which plays an important role in the life of our vines. The stones that cover the soil, which make it difficult to work the vines, release the heat accumulated during the day at night, thus keeping the temperatures in balance and ensuring that the grapes ripen very well over the year.

It is a unique place, with low yields but high quality!

The harvest is entirely manual, the grapes are transported as quickly as possible to the cellar in small boxes to preserve the integrity of the berries and their aromas. All the vintages are worked in stainless steel or concrete tanks.

In the cellar, the gestures are precise and meticulous. Little interventionist, it is the right balance that dominates.

The Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois AOP is one of the oldest appellations in the Languedoc region (decree in 1949) and one of the smallest in France. Limited to the area of its commune, it covers only 120 hectares.

The climate

Saint-Jean-de-Minervois has a Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild and humid. In the autumn, rainfall is abundant with occasional violent storms. Summers are hot and dry but because of our location at altitude, between 280 and 300 metres, the summer evenings remain temperate.

Very exposed to the East, West, Marine and Cers winds, our region bends to their will throughout the year.
